The best a weight loss vitamin supplement can do is support your body nutritionally while you make your best efforts. A reduction of the intake of calories in combination with appropriate levels of exercise is the only healthy way to lose weight long-term.
It is never wise to reduce caloric intake below levels appropriate to your body size, gender and lifestyle. Your physician or a nutritionist can help you determine how many calories you need to consume or cut to promote a healthy weight loss. He or she can also make recommendations about starting an appropriate exercise program. If you plan to take a vitamin supplement while you work on reducing your weight, discuss that with your physician, too.

Dieters should be aware that weight loss herbal supplements are not the same as vitamin supplements, although in some cases each may contain some of the other. Vitamins are nutrients that are essential to life functions carried out within the body. They are crucial to our health, and deficiencies can occur when certain food groups are eliminated. A quality multi-vitamin will support the overall health of a dieter regardless of its being labeled for “weight loss.”
Herbal supplements or remedies by contrast are not vital nutrients. They are substances derived from plants that are thought or proposed to have effects on the body. In many cases, there is little if any scientific evidence supporting the effectiveness of herbs.
There are several weight loss herbal supplements you may be tempted to add to your diet. Research and carefully consider the properties of any herbs before you decide to consume them. Certain herbs can and do interact with medications. They can also cause side effects, and may provide no real benefits at all.
