A body building supplement vitamin will usually be a combination of calcium and other muscle and bone building ingredients. Bodybuilders also use MRPs or Meal-replacements Products. Protein shakes and bars are MRPs.

Training Body Building Supplement Vitamin & Nutrition

During training season, bodybuilders take MRPs instead of regular meals. An MRP is mainly a protein source but also contains vitamins, and calcium as well as other minerals. It is low in fat and carbs.

Maintaining a low fat and carb, high protein training diet allows them to sculpt and tone their bodies for competition. With less body fat, muscles achieve greater definition for the lean, cut look bodybuilders aspire for.

An MRP may also be packed with a lot of other supplements, such as creatine, glutamine, other amino acids, and triglycerides.

But protein forms most of the bodybuilder's training diet. Right after a workout, the bodybuilder usually takes a protein powder drink instead of eating. This aids muscle repair and helps make muscles grow faster.

Another great protein source is egg white and soya. These two ingredients are also mainstays of many a body building supplement vitamin. Another popular ingredient is casein protein.

The richest protein in terms of glutamine content, this amino acid helps the muscles recover rapidly. It's also packed with casomorphin that aids amino acid absorption for prolonged periods.

Off Season Body Building Supplement Vitamin & Nutrition

When bodybuilders aren't training, they eat regular meals instead of protein shakes and other MRPs. Favorites are leafy greens, whole-wheat products, and other sources of complex carbohydrates.

A body building supplement vitamin may also be an antioxidant or regular multivitamin, but many bodybuilders enjoy natural food sources during off season since they take enough meal substitutes during training anyway.

But bodybuilders have a favorite supplement even during off season: glutamine. The most common type of amino acid in the muscles of the human anatomy, some bodybuilders believe that natural glutamine is used up during weight bearing and other anaerobic workouts. Some believe that glutamine deficiency can weaken the immune system and waste muscle tissues. So glutamine powder has become quite popular.

Side Effects of Body Building Supplement Vitamin & Nutrition

Perhaps the most important mineral to a bodybuilder is calcium, which balances a major side effect of a high protein diet: weak bones.

Too much protein draws calcium from the bone, weakening it. When you consider that a bodybuilder's workout focuses on lifting weights, it's easy to see the risk of injury.

Studies have shown that protein from animals seems to draw more calcium from the human bone compared to protein from vegetable and plant sources. That's why many bodybuilders opt for the low fat, high protein, high calcium, and delicious soymilk.

Warning: If you're planning to start a bodybuilding regimen, the first place you should go to is a nutritionist's clinic NOT a bodybuilding supplement store at the mall!
